Summer 2026: Longhill Library Workshops
This summer, we're hosting weekly STEM workshops every Thursday at the Longhill Library for local kids. At our first workshop, participants built their own kaleidoscopes while exploring the fascinating science of light, reflection, and color.
We loved seeing everyone's creativity and curiosity shine, and we're excited for all the hands-on STEM activities still to come!! Each workshop has 30+ attendees!
Past Event Gallery
STEM HERizons partnered with STEM Like A Girl to host our biggest workshop yet! With eight mini STEM “icebreakers,” the girls explored a variety of STEM concepts through creativity and hands-on fun.
The goal of this workshops was to combine creativity with STEM, and this workshop showed that science can be imaginative and accessible to everyone. We’re so thankful to STEM Like A Girl, Newark Academy, and all the incredible volunteers and parents who helped make this event possible. We loved sparking curiosity and can’t wait to keep inspiring young scientists to explore STEM with confidence and creativity!
Longhill Library Galaxy Jars
For one of our first initiatives, STEM HERizons partnered with the Longhill Township Library to host a Galaxy Jar Workshop! Using materials like cotton balls, paint, and glitter, each participant designed her own miniature galaxy!!
By merging STEM with arts and crafts, learning about the galaxy was not only more exciting but also showed that science can be playful, beautiful, and accessible to everyone!
We’re so grateful for the chance to spark curiosity and share the joy of science with these amazing young scientists, and we're excited to continue creating spaces where young girls can explore STEM with curiosity, confidence, and creativity!
STEM Like a Girl
We’re proud to partner with STEM Like a Girl to bring engaging, hands-on workshops to girls in our community. This year, we’re teaming up for a special event on October 25, 2025, where participants will explore science, technology, engineering, and math through fun, interactive activities. Together, we’re building spaces where girls feel confident, curious, and excited to see themselves in STEM.

Long Hill Library
We’re excited to collaborate with the Long Hill Library to make STEM more accessible and engaging for girls in our community. Through upcoming interactive and monthly events hosted at the library, we aim to create welcoming spaces where girls can explore STEM in ways that connect to their everyday interests. Our first workshop was on August 12th where we explored galaxy jars! This is just one way we’re working together to spark curiosity and confidence in the next generation of STEM leaders. 💖
The Speedway Academy and Newark Academy
We're excited to be hosting our STEM enrichment program for elementary students at the Speedway Academy! We are also working through Newark Academy to make this happen, and we look forward to spreading STEM and equity to these young scientists!
